# Jax Aphelios Concept ## Core Idea Hi, I just thought Jax and **Aphelios** looked like a really good combo together so I wanted to share my thoughts on a deck. The main idea of this deck is to abuse Aphelios's ability to ramp, untap or buff units and Jax's legend ability to change gear onto different people. Im still trying to figure out a pay off (Right now it's G Yasuo with a Sterak's Gage) for all the aphelios shenagins but the current idea is to use mid range units and the resources Aphelios creates to push and hold battlefeilds, opting to conquer more with units than holding. # Units ## Two drops Now I know it may seem weir to not run two drops but we are running a lot of cheap gear that I felt it was best to forgo the usual 7-8 two drops in most decks. There is a **very** good chance we see a turn one play. ## Mid to Late game units - The **Chosen champion is Jax, Unrelenting** just becuase the other one dosen't really do much for this deck. Green runs a lot of pump that making you gear pump seems ineffecient. I might be wrong but that my first impression. Its a good draw engine with the amount of gear swapping Jax allows you to do. - **3 Aphelios** is our star child, he's going to be our turn two play escpecially if we have a gear already in play. This works out well even if we went first (Don't have access to Jax's legend ability becuase we are tapped out) becuase with Aphelios's ability, we can make it so we only ramp down when we play him and not when we attach a gear. - **2 Ornn, Blacksmith** is a consistancy peice that acts like a searcher from OPTCG. Theres a reason why they are run in every deck. It also gives us another unti since we don't really run that many when compared to other decks. I have to test to see if I want to keep more or drop it but first impressions said it was going to help since it replaces itself in hand(most of the time). - **2 Azir, Ascendant** I am very high on this card, for the pure reason that he gives you options. You can swap with a unit on Defense to keep it alive or hold, you can gank if you move a small unit up and then use his ability to swap places with that small unit. Theres genuily so many lines and I think it fits well within the deck to give it another good attacker. - **2 Yasuo, Remorseful** acts as our top end. His ability works really well with gear and theend game plan is to slam a Sterak's Gage or Boneshiver and start attacking in for 9/8 damage and then 9/8 might, which will clear a lot of battlefeilds. ## Gear I tried to stack the gear, I highly doubt this is the most optimal ammount but testing will tell - **2 Warmogs**, decent turn one play but we have better, just helps out the ratios - **3 Brutalizer** great turn one play, also works well with Apheilios and Yasuo - **3 Guardian Angel** another good turn one play, just helps keeps things alive - **3 Boneshiver**, great on conquer ability and decent stat stick - **2 Sterak's Gage**, not a great combat trick, the deck has better options but its the strongest gear at the time and if something better comes out it will be replaced maybe... ## Spells #### Pump Spells Just good at helped win some interactions - **2 En Garde** - **3 Punch First** (Just really overstated) - **3 Discipline** #### Other Spells - **3 Defy** - **2 Sabotage** to deal with gear removal - **2 Confront** for draw or late game accelerate - **2 Strike Down**, safe removal as your unit doesn't take damage ## Battle fields - **Ornn's Forge** because it makes gear dirt cheap - **Windswept Hillock** because it allows us to pressure both battlefields - **Targon's Peak** lets us hold up pump spells ## Side Board - **3 Unyielding Spirit** for the Kai'sa match - **2 Windwall** - **3 Adaptatron** for gear/gold based decks ## Final Thoughts The deck still needs testing but I feel like there is a lot of potential here. I also really like the direction that Riot is going with the abilites being usefulin multiple situations and multiple abilities, makes the skill ceiling higher. I have concerns with the deck because I feel it may not be able to be agressive early game and hold decks can go over the mid range game plan but you have really strong combos in the mid to late game and ramp with Aphelios. This is my first time building a deck so any thoughts about it would be greatly appericated ad I would love to talk about Riftbound as well so I will link my Discord below. If you read this far, thank you, it really means a lot. **Discord: that_kid2125**
