This deck plays a hit and run style. You rarely want to defend and you don't really have any "unplayable" matchups based on my testing. Here are a few of the highlighted matchups: Kai Sa: Ruin Runner, Qiyana, and hexdrinker are your best friends in this matchup. Kai sa has a hard time dealing with deflect and not being able to target. Be aware of unchecked power and thermo beam after they side deck. In response you should bring in brynhir and sabotage. Side decks: In: 2 sabotage, 2 Brynhir Thundersong, 1 Ruin Runner Out: 2 akshan, 1 angle shot, 1 kai sa, 1 doran’s blade Draven: Surprisingly you have a really good draven matchup. if draven stays on a battlefield to try and defend they usually either A. Want to push you off with fight or flight, rebuke, or overzealous fan. Ruin runner can negate these attempts and you can swing with big numbers with equipment. During the showdown when they use their spinning axe you can forcefully detach it using angle shot. You also have access to things like blood rush and punch fist. And if it is looking unplayable just use relentless pursuit to escape to the other battlefield. Note Akshan spinning axes is pretty insane as well because even if they kill your akshan on your turn it will die on their next turn. You want to side deck in Brynhir game 2 and 3 since it prevents draven from using all of their combat tricks when you attack in. Side decks: In: 2 Brynhir Thundersong Out: 2 kai sa Annie Downwell: Annie Downwell really struggles to do much to you late game if you have ruin runner and first mate. They can spam downwell, but eventually you will just win because they can’t use any of their spells on ruin runner and first mate can just ready him. Side decks: In: 1 Ruin runner, 2 sabotage, 2 Brynhir Thundersong Out: 2 akshan, 2 blood rush, 1 angle shot. Viktor Spells: Viktor also struggles to deal with the early deflect from hexdrinker and qiyana. Late game ruin runner can basically solo that deck as long as you keep smaller units on the board to play around and cull the weak. Also make sure to play around imperial decree. Try your best to keep relentless pursuit available for a quick escape if you defend. Side decks: In: 1 Ruin runner, 2 sabotage, 2 Brynhir Thundersong Out: 2 akshan, 2 blood rush, 1 angle shot. Tips and Tricks: 1. You can use relentless pursuit like ride the wind to conquer during your turn, but it is almost better since you get an equip when you move and you can move back once you conquer on your opponents turn. 2. Side deck yone for akshann in any matchup where you can't make use of akshan's ability to steal gear. yone is strong because your opponent usually doesn't want to try and hold into you and if they don't they still are not safe. Not to mention relentless pursuit is very strong in combination with yone. 3. Open with forge of the fluft as it can help you attach gear to units without de-ramping. 4. Use qiyana and kai sa as powerful draw engines with gear on them. 5. Try and leave at least 1 rune up each end phase if you are on a battlefield to force your opponent to play around punch fist. 6. You basically never want to leave your units on the battlefield if you can. You want to score most of your points from conquering. Holding in this deck is usually only feasible if you have punch fist or a unit with 2-3 gear on it. So just be smart about when you attempt to hold and what your opponent could have.
