Credits to IzziPurrito on Reddit, this deck is pretty fun against most matchups ive tried. "Battlefields: • On conquer: Discard 1 then draw 1 (Start every game with this) • On defend: recall a unit (Really good to keep our units safe) • On each players first turn, they channel a rune. (Start this if you know you're going second) Units: 14 3 Darius (Red) (One being our champion. This card is just generically really strong and synergizes with our decks low costs) 3 Vi (Red) (Allows us to recycle our cards and also gives us a very big threat in the late game due to her being able to one-shot entire battlefields) 3 Yellow Poro (Turn 1 play) 3 Immortal Phoenix (The chicken) 2 Kai'sa (Red) (Our value generator. She tends to brick though, so we only run 2) Spells 21 3 Hextech Laser (Boop) 3 Void Seeker (Booop) 3 Disintegrate (Boooop) 3 Cull the Weak (Great general removal, especially when we have the chicken) 3 Cleave (The most cuttable card in the deck honestly) 2 Get Excited (Discard outlet to get the chicken in the graveyard) 2 Hidden Blade (Kill a threatening unit to win a game, or kill the chicken and get 2 cards and immediately bring the chicken back) 2 Shakedown (Riddle me this Batman) 2 Falling Star (If the game worked how you expect it to, we would actually be running 3 of these. Unfortunately, due to some short-sighted bullshit, this and Icathian Rain DO NOT TRIGGER THE CHICKEN) (Nevermind it DOES work! Run 3 of these!) Gears 3 3 Seal of Rage (I'll explain below) Sideboard 8 (duh) 2 Vayne (Red) ( Yi) 2 Salvage ( Aurora) 2 Ballista ( Viktor) 2 Noxian Saboteur (Teemo) How to play So I first need to point something out: You've probably noticed that theres a TON of power costs in this deck. In this entire deck there are only 11 cards with no power cost, (and 4 of those cards are Kai'sa which has an optional power cost) which means we are going to be churning through our runes FAST. Because of this, we can really only run cheap spells (and Darius) otherwise those cards will just rot in our hands. It also means that Seal of Rage is extremely important to the deck. Despite being super low to the ground with its runes, this deck plays more as a very resiliant midrange deck... that wants to go second. (We want to go first against Viktor though) We want second because it gives us an extra rune to work with early, and it allows us to play a turn 1 chicken. Also, if we have the battlefield that gives us a rune, we can turn 1 accelerate Kai'sa. (Float a red mana, play Seal of Rage, then play Kai'sa) The goal of this deck is to control the opponents board state with our insane amount of removal, and at the same time, threaten battlefields with Phoenixes that are literally impossible to stop. (There is actually a yellow card that stops Phoenix, but no one plays it) Matchups Kai'sa Great matchup. Save Void Seeker for Kai'sa. You're free to nuke their other units with your other damaged based removal. To deal with Darius, just ram your Phoenix into him. Our units come back. Kai'sa's do not. The way we lose this is if we do things too aggressively and run out of gas. (Also Thousand Tailed Watcher is a huge threat) Our deck doesn't work if we have few cards in hand. Its okay to kill our chicken if it draws us 2 cards. IN: 2 Vayne, 2 Ballista (its for their tank and for the student) OUT: 3 Cleave, 1 Get Excited (Our creatures will typically die to removal, so opportunities to use Cleave will be few, and Get Excited is a neg in a matchup that we really want to grind with) Teemo Easy matchup. Teemo decks get clapped by decks with lots of removal. Just be careful about triggering Blue Teemo, since that could bring out Nocturnes to jump scare you. Like Kai'sa, Watcher is a pretty big threat. IN: 2 Ballista, 2 Anti-Hidden dude OUT: 3 Cleave, 1 Get Excited Master Yi A little hard, though they play wildly different. For classic Yi, keeping them off a battlefield is important, which is easy in the early game. However as the game goes on they will start bringing out bigger threats that we have difficulty removing. (and worse, backed up with counterspells) So going fast is important here. The Aurora build is way easier since they don't do jack for like 4 turns. Just go fast, and pile your removal on their first couple creatures. IN: 2 Salvage, 2 Anti-Hidden OUT: 3 Disintegrate, 1 Hidden Blade Jinx Easy matchup. They run out of gas really fast, and they struggle against our mass removal. IN: 2 Vayne OUT: 2 Hidden Blade Viktor This matchup is our one truly bad matchup since they have so many units, and that battlefield that gives +1 makes it very hard to put them down. The chicken is absolutley mandatory in this matchup or we guaranteed lose. IN: 2 Ballista OUT: 2 Cull Conclusion I've been having a lot of fun and success with this deck. It takes some getting used to since it relies on tempo a lot due to our power costs. But the fact no one is able to permanently answer our chickens gives us free reign to go ham. (But instead of going ham, we instead go chicken) The only deck I'm not a fan of seeing is Viktor. Thankfully all the Kai'sa players have scared the Viktor players away, so I am not worried. Originally this was planned to be an Annie deck, but that deck was too glass cannony and ran out of gas really fast. Thats when I found Cull, Hidden Blade, and I knew this had to be a Darius deck. (Though, ironically, we will be pivoting to Draven as our legend when he comes out) Cheers!
